Tether and Circle can freeze their stablecoins at any address. Every freeze is an event in the token’s contract, so we read them every day from Ethereum and TRON. No estimates: each row links to its transaction.

How we count
- We read the freeze events of the USDT contract on Ethereum (AddedBlackList, RemovedBlackList, DestroyedBlackFunds), the USDC contract on Ethereum (Blacklisted, UnBlacklisted) and the USDT contract on TRON.
- “Frozen balance” is the token balance of the address when our daily run first saw the freeze. Tokens sent to the address later, or destroyed by the issuer, change the real figure.
- USDT and USDC on other networks (Solana, BNB Chain, Arbitrum and others) are not counted yet.

FAQ
Does a frozen address mean its owner is a criminal?
No. Issuers freeze at the request of law enforcement, under sanctions or after a hack, and sometimes by mistake. A freeze is a signal to check, not proof of a crime.
Can I check whether my own address is frozen?
Yes. The USDT and USDC contracts have public read functions (isBlackListed for USDT, isBlacklisted for USDC) that explorers such as Etherscan and Tronscan show. See USDT freeze checkers.
My USDT is frozen. What now?
Only the issuer can lift a freeze. Contact Tether or Circle through their official channels and ignore anyone who offers to “unfreeze” funds for a fee. See USDT frozen by Tether.
