AML check on Solana
How to check a Solana wallet for AML risk, why token accounts matter, and which services cover Solana.
Token accounts differ from the wallet address. Paste the owner wallet address, not a token account.

How to check a Solana address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers SolanaChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Use the wallet (owner) address from your counterparty, not the token-account address shown in some explorers.
- Run the check and read itLook at the score and at which categories make it up. One high-risk category matters more than many low ones.
Solana specifics
Who can freeze funds on Solana
- On Solana, a token's mint can carry a freeze authority. Only a mint that still has one can freeze token accounts, and if that authority is revoked, accounts for that token can no longer be frozen.[4]
- A frozen token account keeps its owner and balance, but it cannot receive, send or burn tokens until it is thawed.[4]
- Tokens built with Solana's Token Extensions program can include a permanent delegate. This mint-level authority can move or burn tokens from any holder's account for that token, as if the owner had signed.[5]
- Circle's USDC terms say Circle may block USDC addresses it believes may be linked to illegal activity. If such an address is one Circle custodies, Circle may freeze the USDC there, temporarily or permanently. Under its blocklisting policy, Circle may also block USDC transfers to and from an address on chain. The terms do not name individual networks.[6]
Scams seen on Solana
- Scam Sniffer reports that most phishing signatures on Solana start a direct transfer of the victim's assets. On Ethereum, thefts more often rely on token approvals.[7]
- Scam Sniffer describes a Solana drainer that sent phishing NFTs to holders of one token as a fake airdrop. The NFT's name and link pointed to a phishing site that asked victims to sign a transaction with hidden details.[7]
- Researchers behind the SolPhishHunter study (2025) report that Solana's account and transaction design has led to new kinds of phishing that differ from those seen on Ethereum.[8]
- Solidus Labs reports that 98.6% of tokens launched on Pump.fun between January 2024 and March 2025 collapsed into pump-and-dump schemes soon after launch. Treat new Solana memecoins with extra caution.[9]
Check the history yourself
- Solana's docs list Solana Explorer, SolanaFM, Solscan and Orb as common block explorers. They let you check a payment yourself, inspect accounts and token balances, without writing code.[10]
- An explorer also shows a token's mint details, including supply, decimals and authority. You can use this to check which authorities, such as a freeze authority, a token's mint still has.[10]
- Token names can be copied. Circle lists the USDC mint address on Solana mainnet as EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Compare the mint address in the explorer with this one before you accept a USDC payment.[11]
Sanctions and enforcement cases
- In February 2024, two men were charged in Tampa, Florida, with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering over an NFT 'rug pull' on Solana. According to ICE, they minted NFT collections on Solana, abandoned the project, and moved the proceeds from Solana to Ethereum to make them harder to trace. HSI Tampa investigated the case with other agencies.[12]

Common risks on Solana
FAQ
Which Solana address should I paste?
The wallet (owner) address. Token-account addresses are derived from it and some checkers cannot resolve them.
Can USDC on Solana be frozen?
Circle's USDC terms let Circle block USDC transfers to and from an address on chain. They also let Circle freeze USDC in Circle-custodied addresses it links to illegal activity. The terms do not name individual networks.
A token I never bought showed up in my Solana wallet. Is it safe to open its link?
Be careful. Scam Sniffer has documented Solana drainers that send phishing NFTs as fake airdrops. The link leads to a site that asks you to sign a transaction with hidden details, and signing it lets the attacker steal your assets.
How do I know the USDC I received on Solana is real?
Open the transfer in an explorer and check the token's mint address. Circle lists the Solana USDC mint as EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v. Any other mint is a different token, whatever its name.
How do I check a Solana address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Solana, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
