Privacy policy
Wallet addresses
We do not run AML checks, so we never receive or store the wallet addresses you check. If you type an address into our site search, it stays in your browser: search filters the page as you type, and we remove the query from the address bar so analytics never sees it. When you follow a link to a service, that service’s own privacy policy applies.
What is stored in your browser
- Your theme choice (light or dark), in local storage, so the site remembers it.
- Your cookie choice (accept or reject analytics), in local storage, so we don’t ask again.
- Only if you accept analytics: the Google Analytics cookies
_ga(tells one browser from another) and_ga_HVV80962J7(keeps track of the current visit). Google sets each for up to 2 years.[Google]
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and which services readers open. It starts only after you click Accept in the cookie banner; until then your browser does not contact Google at all. Reject is just as easy, and the site works the same either way.
- What Google receives if you accept: the address and title of the pages you view and of the page you came from; your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language; the random IDs stored in the
_gacookies; an approximate location worked out from your IP address; and clicks on links, including “Visit” links to services. Never wallet addresses, never search queries. - IP addresses. Google says that for visitors in the EU, the UK and Switzerland it uses the IP address only to work out an approximate location and then discards it, without logging or storing it.[Google]
- Where the data goes. Google may process analytics data outside the EU, the UK and Switzerland, including in the United States. For transfers to the US, Google says it relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss counterparts, and may also use the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.[Google]
- No advertising. Our code keeps Google’s advertising storage and ad personalisation switched off.
- How long. Google deletes the detailed data automatically at the end of the retention period set in our account (Google offers 2 or 14 months); for a visitor who keeps coming back, the period can restart with each visit.[Google] Google’s own privacy policy applies to the data it processes.
- Change your mind at any time with (also at the bottom of every page). Choosing Reject deletes the Google Analytics cookies.
Third parties
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, only after you accept (see above).
- Fonts, scripts and images are served from our own domain. The only exception is the Google Analytics script, which loads from Google only after you accept.
If you email us, we use the message only to answer you and do not share it. We delete it once the matter is closed, unless we need it to deal with a legal claim.
Hosting
The site runs on Railway (Railway Corp., USA) on servers in the Netherlands and is delivered through Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). To deliver the pages and keep the site secure, both handle technical data such as your IP address, the page requested and the time. Railway keeps its request logs, which include the IP address, for 3 to 30 days depending on the hosting plan.[Railway] Both companies say that for transfers to the US they rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK and Swiss counterparts.[Railway][Cloudflare]
Legal basis
- Analytics and its cookies run only with your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time with Cookie settings; withdrawing does not affect what was collected before.
- Answering your emails, and our hosting provider’s security logs, rely on our legitimate interest in replying to you and keeping the site secure (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Your rights
You can ask us for access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, or ask for data you gave us with your consent in a portable format. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest and withdraw consent at any time. Send requests to editors@topaml.com. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.
