How we score AML checkers

Every score on this site comes from one published formula applied to facts we could verify on each service’s own pages. Nothing is adjusted by hand, and no service pays for its position.

Where the facts come from

For each service we read its own website, pricing page, documentation, FAQ, terms and privacy policy, and the bot or app page it links to. Third-party pages, reviews and search snippets are not used as evidence. When a fact appears only in marketing copy or on someone else’s site, we mark it “Not verified”. All facts currently on the site were checked on 4 Nov 2026. Research notes with source URLs are kept for every service.

We do not run test checks with real wallets or buy plans, so we do not claim anything about report accuracy, speed or support response times.

The six criteria

CriterionWeightHow points are earned (max 10)
Price & free checks20%Published price or free check (4), free checks available (2), no subscription needed (2), full price list public (2)
Network coverage20%1 point for each of the 10 core networks (Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Solana, TON, Litecoin, XRP Ledger) that the service confirms in its own docs; 0.5 if claimed only elsewhere
Report depth20%Numeric risk score (3), breakdown by category (3), PDF report (2), transaction-hash checks (2)
Transparency20%Operator’s company named (5); data sources named (5) or own/resold data stated (2.5)
Privacy10%No wallet connection (6), no account for the first check (4)
Channels10%2.5 for each of: messenger bot, web, API, mobile app

The total is the weighted average, rounded to one decimal. A feature earns points only when it is verified — an unverified feature earns nothing, but we label it “Not verified” rather than “No”.

When a service is not scored

A service gets a score only if its own pages show a price (or a free check), a confirmed network list and the report format. Otherwise it is listed as “Not scored yet” with the reasons, and still appears in tables with the facts we do know. Today 12 of 27 services are scored; the others are Chainalysis, Elliptic, Crystal Intelligence, TRM Labs, BestChange AML check, Scorechain Bot, Bitrace, Scorechain AI, Merkle Science, Sumsub Crypto Monitoring, Webacy, BitHide AML Check, AMLBot, Match Systems, CoinKYT.

Editor’s picks

Chainalysis, Elliptic, Crystal Intelligence and TRM Labs are shown first in our rankings by editorial decision, not by score. They are the best-known blockchain analytics companies, used by businesses rather than individuals: each sells its products on contract, with prices on request, so our formula cannot score them. Everything below them is ordered by the published score. For these four, a network we do not list may still be covered — their full lists are only available to customers.

Network statuses

  • Supported — listed on the service’s own docs, pricing page, FAQ or check form.
  • Not verified — claimed only in marketing copy, a blog post or on a third-party site.
  • Not supported — not listed anywhere we looked.

Risk categories

Our category names follow the labels providers publish — for example AMLBot’s list of categories it detects[1] and Merkle Science’s entity descriptions[2] — so you can match them to your report. We group them into Danger, Suspicious and Trusted.

Updates and corrections

We re-check prices and networks at least every 90 days and whenever we notice a change. The “checked” date next to facts changes only when we actually re-check them. Spotted an error? Email editors@topaml.com with a link to the source.

Limits

  • No score measures how accurate a provider’s attribution data is; that cannot be verified from outside.
  • A high AML risk score is not proof of a crime, and a low one is not a guarantee against a freeze.
  • Empty means unknown, never zero.
