Free USDT Freeze Checkers Compared

A freeze check reads one fact: whether the address is on Tether’s blacklist in the USDT contract. Etherscan’s Read Contract tab answers it straight from the contract on Ethereum; BlockSec’s and USDTBanList’s free checkers cover Ethereum and TRON in one step. None of them needs your wallet, and none can see a hold placed by an exchange.

What a freeze check shows — and what it doesn’t

  • It shows whether Tether has blacklisted the address in the USDT contract on that network. A blacklisted address cannot send USDT.[1]
  • The blacklists are separate for each network. Check the network your USDT is on.
  • It cannot see a hold inside an exchange account. For that, see exchange froze your crypto.
  • It is a snapshot. An address that is clean today can be blacklisted tomorrow.
  • It is not an AML check. An AML score looks at where the money came from; a freeze check only reads the blacklist. See how to check USDT before receiving it.

Check on Etherscan, step by step

  1. Open the USDT contract on Etherscan. Its address is 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7; make sure the page shows this exact address and the name Tether USD.[1]
  2. Open the Contract tab, then Read Contract.
  3. Find isBlackListed (or getBlackListStatus), paste the address you want to check and press Query.
  4. true means Tether has blacklisted the address; false means it has not.

On TRON, the USDT contract is TR7NHqjeKQxGTCi8q8ZY4pL8otSzgjLj6t on Tronscan, with the same functions.[5]

Never use “Write Contract” or “Connect to Web3” for a check. Reading the blacklist needs no wallet and no signature. Sites that ask you to connect a wallet to “check” USDT are a known scam — see our live list of fake AML checkers.

Which to use

  • Quick answer for Ethereum or TRON: BlockSec’s or USDTBanList’s free checker.
  • Want the answer from the source: Etherscan’s Read Contract, which reads the contract itself.
  • Want to know where the money came from as well: an AML checker — compare them on USDT TRC-20 and USDT ERC-20.

FAQ

Do I need to connect my wallet to check if USDT is frozen?

No. The blacklist is public. Paste the address into a checker or use Read Contract on a block explorer. A site that asks you to connect a wallet is a scam risk.

Does “not blacklisted” mean my funds are safe?

It means Tether has not frozen the address at the moment you checked. An exchange can still hold a deposit, and the address can be blacklisted later.

Can I check USDC too?

Circle keeps its own blocklist for USDC. USDTBanList says its free checks cover USDC on Ethereum as well as USDT.
