AML check on Moonbeam
Moonbeam was an Ethereum-compatible Polkadot parachain with 0x addresses. Its team set 31 July 2026 as the end of the parachain and moved GLMR to Base.
A Moonbeam address looks the same as an Ethereum or Base address, so make sure your checker is set to the right network. GLMR now also lives on Base as a separate token, so check which network the coins you are asking about are actually on.
Services that check Moonbeam
How to check a Moonbeam address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers MoonbeamChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Before you run a check, confirm whether your tool still lists Moonbeam as a network, and whether you mean old Moonbeam-chain GLMR or the new Base GLMR (0xb3846fd356c2149ee8d30b0449088dc74e265459).
- Run the check and read itBe cautious with any site or message offering to 'migrate' or 'rescue' Moonbeam funds. Only use links from Moonbeam's official site or your exchange's own notices.
Moonbeam specifics
- Moonbeam's team announced on 3 July 2026 that the Polkadot parachain would keep running only until 31 July 2026, and that GLMR would move 1:1 to Base as an ERC-20 token at 0xb3846fd356c2149ee8d30b0449088dc74e265459.[1]
- Moonbeam's website now describes the old chain in the past tense: GLMR paid the gas fees on every transaction and collators staked it to secure the chain, and "both jobs ended with the parachain."[2]
- Moonbeam uses Ethereum-style H160 accounts and ECDSA keys, so ordinary Ethereum wallets work with it. Its chain ID is 1284 (0x504) and its target block time is 6 seconds.[3]
- Assets from Polkadot and other parachains reached Moonbeam via XCM (Polkadot's cross-chain messaging). For example, DOT sent from Polkadot is held in Moonbeam's account on Polkadot, and a matching token called xcDOT is credited on Moonbeam.[4]
- Cross-chain tokens on Moonbeam are called XC-20s and carry an 'xc' prefix. xcUSDT (0xFFFFFFfFea09FB06d082fd1275CD48b191cbCD1d) and xcUSDC (0xFFfffffF7D2B0B761Af01Ca8e25242976ac0aD7D) both come from Polkadot Asset Hub.[5]
- Moonbeam's docs cover three third-party bridge protocols: Axelar, LayerZero and Wormhole. Wormhole's 'Moonbeam Routed Liquidity' sent funds from Wormhole-connected chains through Moonbeam into Polkadot parachain wallets.[6]
- Kraken migrated clients' GLMR to Base between 31 July and 7 August 2026 and said Polkadot GLMR will no longer be supported after the migration.[7]
- In the 2022 Nomad bridge exploit, which Elliptic put at $156.4 million, the first attacker bridged 0.1 WBTC through Moonbeam and ended up with 100 WBTC (about $2.3 million) on Ethereum.[8]
- Moonbeam warned that once the chain winds down, funds left in on-chain protocols may become inaccessible. Its migration deadline for GLMR was 31 July 2026.[9]
Common risks on Moonbeam
FAQ
Is Moonbeam still running?
Moonbeam’s team said on 3 July 2026 that the Polkadot parachain would run only until 31 July 2026 and that GLMR would move 1:1 to Base as an ERC-20 token. Its website now says the parachain has ended, and it warned that funds left in on-chain protocols may become inaccessible.
What does a Moonbeam address look like?
An Ethereum-style address: 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters, not a Polkadot-style address. Moonbeam's chain ID was 1284.
Were USDT or USDC native on Moonbeam?
No. Tether lists Polkadot AssetHub and Circle lists Polkadot, but neither lists Moonbeam. On Moonbeam they appeared as xcUSDT and xcUSDC, cross-chain copies of tokens issued on Polkadot Asset Hub.
How do I check a Moonbeam address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Moonbeam, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
