AML check on Harmony
Harmony was a sharded EVM blockchain; its official explorer shows no new blocks after 10 September 2026. Its Horizon bridge lost about $100M in 2022 to North Korea’s Lazarus Group.
Harmony’s official explorer shows its last block on 10 September 2026, so the network is not processing new transactions. Funds from the 2022 Horizon bridge theft can still turn up on other chains (the FBI has published wallets it tied to the theft), so AML checkers may flag them.
Services that check Harmony
How to check a Harmony address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers HarmonyChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Use the ONE / ETH toggle on Harmony's official explorer to get the 0x form of a one1 address before checking it in tools that only accept 0x addresses.
- Run the check and read itHarmony has stopped adding blocks, so don’t rely on transfers on the Harmony network. Treat any Harmony “migration” or “claim” site with caution unless an official Harmony page links to it.
Harmony specifics
- As of 4 October 2026, Harmony’s official block explorer shows its latest block, number 93,624,315, on 10 September 2026 (14:41 UTC), with no newer blocks.[1]
- Harmony addresses come in two forms, a Bech32 address starting with one1 and an Ethereum-style address starting with 0x, and the two forms point to the same account.[2]
- Harmony's docs describe the network as fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), the software that runs Ethereum apps, so Ethereum-style apps and wallets can work on it.[3]
- Harmony splits its network into several parallel chains called shards, coordinated by a 'beacon chain'; each transaction states which shard it belongs to, and transfers between shards are supported.[4]
- Harmony's team said the Horizon bridge to Ethereum was halted after the June 2022 hack.[5]
- Harmony's docs list tokens bridged from Ethereum with a '1' prefix, such as 1USDC, 1USDT, 1DAI and 1ETH; these are bridged copies of tokens issued on another chain.[6]
- Harmony's team reported that its Horizon bridge was attacked on 23 June 2022 (11:06 UTC): attackers compromised at least two of the four bridge validator private keys, took about USD 100 million in bridged assets affecting roughly 64,000 wallets, and moved funds into the Tornado Cash mixer. Harmony offered a bounty of USD 1M, later USD 10M, and passed the case to the FBI.[7]
- The FBI said that the Lazarus Group (also called APT38), hackers linked to North Korea, was responsible for the USD 100 million theft from Harmony's Horizon bridge, reported on 24 June 2022. On 13 January 2023 they used the RAILGUN privacy protocol to launder over USD 60 million in ETH. Part of it was converted to bitcoin at exchanges, and some of the funds were frozen with the help of those exchanges.[8]
- Elliptic's research puts the Horizon bridge loss at USD 99.7 million and says about USD 96 million of it went through Tornado Cash, that Railgun was used from January 2023, and that Binance and Huobi blocked and seized part of the funds.[9]
Common risks on Harmony
FAQ
Are one1... and 0x... Harmony addresses different wallets?
No. Harmony's docs say it uses Bech32 one1 addresses but also accepts Ethereum-style 0x addresses, and the two are equivalent forms of the same account. You can switch between them on Harmony's explorer.
Who was behind the Horizon bridge hack?
In January 2023 the FBI said North Korea-linked hackers known as the Lazarus Group (APT38) stole about $100 million from Harmony's Horizon bridge in June 2022, and later used the Railgun privacy protocol to launder over $60 million in ETH.
Is the Harmony network still running?
As of 4 October 2026, Harmony’s official block explorer shows no new blocks after 10 September 2026, so the network is not processing transactions. You can still look up the history of one1 and 0x addresses there.
How do I check a Harmony address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Harmony, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
