AML check on Gnosis Chain

Gnosis Chain addresses look exactly like Ethereum addresses (0x...), but their history on Gnosis is separate, so check them on the Gnosis network itself.

Address format0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters (EVM) · chain ID 100; fees are paid in xDAI0x2b2d315194d5db95c512330dd905abbb24523266Example for illustration, not a real address.
Note

xDAI and tokens like USDC.e reach Gnosis Chain from Ethereum through bridges, so a useful AML check looks at where funds came from on both sides of the bridge.

How to check a Gnosis Chain address

  1. Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
  2. Pick a service that covers Gnosis ChainChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Choose Gnosis Chain (chain ID 100), not Ethereum, when you run a check. The same address can have a clean record on one chain and a risky one on the other.
  3. Run the check and read itUSDT and USDC on Gnosis Chain are bridged, not issued there directly. Compare the token contract with the one listed in the Gnosis docs before you accept a payment.
A real AML check needs only a public address. Never share a seed phrase or private key.

Gnosis Chain specifics

  • Gnosis Chain mainnet (chain ID 100) is secured by validators who stake GNO (minimum deposit 1 GNO), but network fees are paid in xDAI.[1]
  • xDAI is created when DAI is sent from Ethereum to the xDai bridge; the bridge validators then mint the same amount of xDAI on Gnosis Chain.[2]
  • The xDai bridge, which now accepts DAI or USDS, approves a transfer when 4 of its 7 validators agree, and moving funds back to Ethereum takes an extra step to claim them on Ethereum.[3]
  • Other tokens move between Ethereum and Gnosis Chain over the Omnibridge, which the docs say takes about 20 minutes; some tokens have daily limits that reset at 00:00 UTC.[4]
  • USDC bridged from Ethereum arrives on Gnosis Chain as USDC.e (contract 0x2a22f9c3b484c3629090feed35f17ff8f88f76f0), a token that follows Circle's Bridged USDC Standard; an older bridged USDC contract also exists.[5]
  • On 15 March 2022, more than $11 million was drained from Agave and Hundred Finance, two lending apps on Gnosis Chain. The attacker used flash loans and a reentrancy attack that exploited older bridged tokens and missing safety checks in the apps.[6]
  • In November 2025, an exploit drained about $128M from Balancer across several chains, about $9.4M of it on Gnosis Chain. Most Gnosis validators adopted a soft fork that froze the stolen funds, bridge governors paused the bridges, and Monerium froze the affected EURe.[7]
  • A Gnosis Chain hard fork activated on 22 December 2025 moved the roughly $9.4M of frozen Balancer-exploit funds to a DAO-controlled wallet, and a claim process for affected users was announced in February 2026.[8]

Common risks on Gnosis Chain

FAQ

Is a Gnosis Chain address the same as my Ethereum address?

It looks the same and the same wallet key controls it, but its transaction history on Gnosis Chain (chain ID 100) is separate from Ethereum, so an AML check needs to look at the Gnosis history.

Are USDT or USDC issued natively on Gnosis Chain?

No. Tether does not list Gnosis Chain as a supported network, and Circle does not list it as a native USDC network. According to the Gnosis docs, USDC bridged from Ethereum arrives as USDC.e.

Have stolen funds on Gnosis Chain ever been frozen?

Yes, once. After the November 2025 Balancer exploit, most Gnosis validators adopted a soft fork that froze about $9.4M, and a hard fork on 22 December 2025 moved it to a DAO-controlled wallet so affected users could claim it. It was an exceptional community decision and doesn't mean funds will be frozen in future cases.

How do I check a Gnosis Chain address for AML risk?

Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Gnosis Chain, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.

What does “Not verified” mean?

The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
