AML check on Kava
Kava is a blockchain with two linked sides: a Cosmos side using kava1… addresses and an Ethereum-compatible side using 0x… addresses, both paying fees in KAVA.
One person's funds on Kava can show up under a kava1… address on the Cosmos side and a 0x… address on the EVM side, and USDT exists on both sides in different token forms. Check that your AML checker covers the side you are using, and confirm with your exchange which side its deposit address expects.

How to check a Kava address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers KavaChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Before sending, confirm whether your exchange's deposit address is on Kava's Cosmos side (kava1…) or Kava EVM (0x…).
- Run the check and read itOn Kava EVM, check that a 'USDT' token's contract is 0x919C1c267BC06a7039e03fcc2eF738525769109c, the address Kava publishes for Tether's USDT.
Kava specifics
- Kava runs two connected 'co-chains': an Ethereum-compatible (EVM) side for Solidity apps and a Cosmos SDK side linked to other Cosmos chains through IBC since 19 January 2022.[1]
- KAVA is the token used to pay network fees (gas) on both the Cosmos side and the EVM side of Kava.[2]
- Tokens move between Kava's Cosmos and EVM sides through a built-in 'internal bridge': the Cosmos token is locked in a chain module and the same amount is minted as an ERC-20 on the EVM side, then burned on the way back.[3]
- Since midnight on 31 December 2023, KAVA inflation has been permanently set to zero, so no new KAVA can be created.[4]
- Kava's help center notes that MetaMask and Keplr use different derivation paths, so importing the same seed phrase into both wallets gives different addresses.[5]
- Tether's own list of supported networks includes Kava, named 'Cosmos Blockchain (via Kava)'.[6]
- Tether announced on 21 June 2023 that it would launch USDT on Kava.[7]
- According to Kava, USDT on Kava exists both as an ERC-20 token on Kava EVM (contract 0x919C1c267BC06a7039e03fcc2eF738525769109c) and as an IBC token on the Cosmos side that can move to chains like Osmosis.[8]
Common risks on Kava
FAQ
Are kava1… and 0x… addresses the same wallet?
They can be linked: Kava's help center explains how to find the kava1 address associated with a 0x address, for example on the Mintscan explorer. But importing a Keplr seed phrase into MetaMask gives a different address, because the two wallets use different derivation paths.
Is USDT on Kava issued by Tether?
Yes. Tether lists Kava ('Cosmos Blockchain (via Kava)') among its supported networks and announced the launch on 21 June 2023. Kava says the USDT contract on Kava EVM is 0x919C1c267BC06a7039e03fcc2eF738525769109c.
Is there native USDC on Kava?
No. Circle's official list of networks with native USDC did not include Kava when we checked on 4 October 2026, so any USDC-named token on Kava was not issued there directly by Circle.
How do I check a Kava address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Kava, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
