AML check on Linea
Linea is an Ethereum layer 2 incubated within Consensys. Its addresses look exactly like Ethereum's (0x...), but Linea keeps its own balances and history.
Checking a 0x address on Ethereum does not cover what that address did on Linea, so choose Linea explicitly in your checker. Per Linea's docs, withdrawals to Ethereum through the official bridge take about 2 hours at the median, and no more than 16 hours under normal conditions.
Services that check Linea
How to check a Linea address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers LineaChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Make sure your AML checker lists Linea as a supported network. An Ethereum-only scan of the same 0x address will miss Linea activity.
- Run the check and read itFees on Linea are paid in ETH and you don't need the LINEA token to use the network. Treat any request to buy LINEA to 'release' or 'unlock' funds as a red flag.
Linea specifics
- Linea is a zero-knowledge rollup incubated within Consensys. It processes transactions off Ethereum and proves them to Ethereum with a cryptographic 'validity proof', so it inherits Ethereum's security.[1]
- Linea makes a new block about every second, which gives 'soft finality'. Withdrawals to Ethereum have to wait for 'hard finality', when Linea's proof is verified and finalised on Ethereum. Linea says the median wait is about 2 hours and should never be more than 16 hours under normal conditions.[2]
- Linea's own risk disclosures describe the sequencer (the service that orders transactions into blocks), the prover and the Security Council as centralised components maintained by the Linea team, and say the sequencer can postpone or reorder transactions.[3]
- Fees on Linea are paid in ETH. The LINEA token has no governance rights and you don't need it to use the network. Linea burns its surplus revenue under a 'dual burn': 20% is burned as ETH and 80% is converted to LINEA and burned, tracked since 11 September 2025.[4]
- The LINEA token launched through a token generation event (TGE) in 2025. Linea says the airdrop rewarded about 750,000 wallets and that over 92% of eligible wallets claimed it.[5]
- Linea's risk disclosures say a nine-member Security Council can pause the rollup and upgrade it immediately, without submitting a validity proof, once 5 of 9 members agree. They also warn that council members acting with malice or colluding could compromise the system.[6]

FAQ
Is my Linea address the same as my Ethereum address?
It uses the same 0x format (42 characters), and a normal wallet usually shows the same address on both networks. Linea still keeps separate balances and transaction history, so funds on Linea don't appear on Ethereum, and the reverse is also true.
How long does a withdrawal from Linea to Ethereum take?
Through the official (canonical) bridge, a withdrawal has to wait until Linea's proof is verified and finalised on Ethereum. Linea's docs give a median of about 2 hours and say it should not exceed 16 hours under normal operating conditions.
Can Linea pause the network or block addresses?
Currently, yes. Linea’s docs say the sequencer is a centralised component maintained by the Linea team, and that a nine-member Security Council can pause the rollup once 5 of its 9 members agree.
How do I check a Linea address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Linea, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
