AML check on Kaia

Kaia addresses look like Ethereum ones (0x + 40 hex characters), but on Kaia the key that controls an address can be changed, and someone else can pay your fees.

Address format0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters (EVM, same as Klaytn)0x24a32bdb8ea5f9c413064587dbe157083f7ee205Example for illustration, not a real address.
Note

Kaia is a hard fork of Klaytn with the same chain ID, so an address keeps its Klaytn-era history. When you screen a Kaia address, look at activity from before and after the August 2024 switch to Kaia.

How to check a Kaia address

  1. Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
  2. Pick a service that covers KaiaChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Before you send, check that the network shown in your wallet or exchange is Kaia (formerly Klaytn). A 0x address looks the same on many EVM chains.
  3. Run the check and read itIf someone offers to pay your Kaia fees, make sure you know exactly what you are signing. Fee delegation is normal on Kaia, but it does not make the transaction itself safe.
A real AML check needs only a public address. Never share a seed phrase or private key.

Kaia specifics

  • Kaia is the chain formed when Klaytn and Finschia merged through governance decisions made by both chains.[1]
  • The Kaia mainnet launched on 29 August 2024.[2]
  • Kaia is a hard fork of the Klaytn chain with the same chain ID, so existing Klaytn wallets and addresses work on Kaia, and KLAY balances were automatically reflected as KAIA.[3]
  • Finschia's FNSA coin is swapped into KAIA through the Kaia Portal at a rate of 1 FNSA to 148.079656 KAIA; Finschia itself carried over the state of the former LINE Blockchain Mainnet.[4]
  • Kaia has built-in fee delegation, which lets a third party pay a transaction's fees on the user's behalf; such a transaction carries two signatures, one from the sender and one from the fee payer.[5]
  • With partial fee delegation, the fee payer covers a set share of the fee (1 to 99 percent) and the sender pays the rest.[6]

FAQ

Is Kaia the same as Klaytn?

Kaia was formed when Klaytn and Finschia merged. Technically it is a hard fork of Klaytn and keeps the same chain ID, so Klaytn wallets keep working and KLAY balances were automatically shown as KAIA.

I hold FNSA. How do I get KAIA?

According to Kaia's docs, FNSA is swapped through the Kaia Portal at 1 FNSA = 148.079656 KAIA.

Why can someone else pay the fee for my Kaia transaction?

Kaia has fee delegation built in. A third party, often an app, can sign as the 'fee payer' and cover all of the fee, or a share between 1 and 99 percent, alongside your own signature as the sender.

How do I check a Kaia address for AML risk?

Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Kaia, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.

What does “Not verified” mean?

The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
