AML check on opBNB

opBNB is BNB Chain's layer 2, built on the OP Stack and settling on BNB Smart Chain. It uses the same 0x addresses as BNB Smart Chain, and gas is paid in BNB.

Address format0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters (EVM) · chain ID 204; the same address on BNB Smart Chain has a separate history0xc9474194e79f33c768d7da7986005a86586264d6Example for illustration, not a real address.
Note

An AML check on opBNB covers only opBNB activity. The same 0x address on BNB Smart Chain has its own separate history, so check every network the funds actually moved through.

Services that check opBNB

No consumer services check opBNB yetWe list a network for a service once its own docs confirm support.

How to check an opBNB address

  1. Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
  2. Pick a service that covers opBNBChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Choose opBNB as the network in the checker, not BNB Smart Chain. The address and the BNB gas token look the same on both, but each chain keeps its own history.
  3. Run the check and read itBefore sending to or from an exchange, confirm that both sides use opBNB for that coin. If the funds came over from BNB Smart Chain through a bridge, check the sending address on BNB Smart Chain too.
A real AML check needs only a public address. Never share a seed phrase or private key.

opBNB specifics

  • BNB Chain launched the opBNB mainnet publicly on 13 September 2023. opBNB is BNB Smart Chain's layer 2: it is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and built on Optimism's OP Stack.[1]
  • opBNB settles on BNB Smart Chain, not Ethereum: its sequencers bundle transactions and submit them to the rollup contract on BNB Smart Chain.[2]
  • Since the Fourier upgrade went live on mainnet on 7 January 2026, opBNB produces a new block every 250 milliseconds, down from 500 milliseconds.[3]
  • Withdrawing from opBNB to BNB Smart Chain through the official opBNB bridge takes two steps: you submit a proof, then wait a 7-day challenge period before claiming the tokens on BNB Smart Chain. BNB Chain describes this wait as a security measure against fraud and theft.[4]
  • In November 2023, BNB Chain announced that Binance supports deposits and withdrawals of BNB, USDT and FDUSD on opBNB, and said this cuts the time to move funds off opBNB from seven days to seconds.[5]
  • BNB Chain's opBNB FAQ says the opBNB team operates the sequencer (the component that puts transactions in order) and calls it 'a centralized component'. It also says individual users currently cannot run validator or aggregator nodes.[6]
  • BNB Chain's withdrawal guide says the bridge app opens on a community bridge by default (the official opBNB bridge is a separate tab) and warns that community bridges may not be as secure as the official one.[7]

Common risks on opBNB

FAQ

Is my BNB Smart Chain address the same on opBNB?

The format is the same (0x plus 40 hexadecimal characters), and gas on both networks is paid in BNB, so the same address can appear on both. Each network keeps its own balances and history, though, so an AML check on BNB Smart Chain does not cover opBNB, and vice versa.

How long does a withdrawal from opBNB to BNB Smart Chain take?

With the official opBNB bridge, you submit a proof and then wait a 7-day challenge period before you can claim the tokens on BNB Smart Chain. BNB Chain's guide notes that the bridge app opens on a community bridge by default and warns that community bridges may not be as secure as the official one.

Who runs opBNB?

According to BNB Chain's opBNB FAQ, the opBNB team operates the sequencer (the component that orders transactions), and the FAQ describes it as centralized. The same FAQ says individual users cannot currently run validator or aggregator nodes.

How do I check a opBNB address for AML risk?

Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports opBNB, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.

What does “Not verified” mean?

The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
