AML check on Unichain

Unichain is Uniswap's Ethereum layer 2: addresses look exactly like Ethereum ones (0x...), fees are paid in ETH, and each address has a history separate from Ethereum.

Address format0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters (EVM) · chain ID 130; fees are paid in ETH0x5bc9221ec9b38466455237791028adc17c4b4973Example for illustration, not a real address.
Note

Because Unichain addresses are identical to Ethereum addresses, a clean result on Ethereum does not mean the same address is clean on Unichain. Make sure your checker scans Unichain (chain ID 130) specifically.

How to check a Unichain address

  1. Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
  2. Pick a service that covers UnichainChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Check that your AML tool lists Unichain by name; an Ethereum-only scan does not cover Unichain activity.
  3. Run the check and read itCircle's native USDC on Unichain uses contract 0x078d782b760474a361dda0af3839290b0ef57ad6; compare the contract before trusting a token labelled 'USDC'.
A real AML check needs only a public address. Never share a seed phrase or private key.

Unichain specifics

  • Unichain mainnet went live on 11 February 2025, launched by Uniswap Labs.[1]
  • Unichain is part of the Superchain and launched as a 'Stage 1' rollup with permissionless fault proofs, meaning anyone can challenge an incorrect state posted to Ethereum.[2]
  • Gas fees on Unichain are paid in ETH; Uniswap's UNI token is not the gas token.[3]
  • Blocks are produced about every second, and 'Flashblocks' give early preconfirmations about every 200 milliseconds; a preconfirmation is a fast signal, not final settlement.[4]
  • Withdrawing to Ethereum through the native bridge can be finalized no sooner than 7 days after it is relayed, because of the OP Stack fault challenge period.[5]
  • On 2 September 2025 the Bunni DEX was exploited for about $8.4 million; one of the two affected pools was weETH/ETH on Unichain, and Bunni says the attacker's wallets were ultimately funded via Tornado Cash.[6]
  • L2BEAT rates Unichain a Stage 1 rollup but warns that contract upgrades have no delay, so users would have no exit window before an upgrade takes effect.[7]

Common risks on Unichain

FAQ

Is a Unichain address the same as my Ethereum address?

The format is identical (0x plus 40 hex characters) and the same address can be used on both, but each network keeps its own separate transaction history.

Do I need UNI tokens to pay fees on Unichain?

No. Unichain's official network information lists ETH as the currency used for gas.

How long does it take to move funds from Unichain back to Ethereum?

Using the native bridge, a withdrawal can be finalized no sooner than 7 days after it is relayed to Ethereum, because of the OP Stack fault challenge period. Third-party bridges work differently.

How do I check a Unichain address for AML risk?

Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Unichain, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.

What does “Not verified” mean?

The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
