AML check on Astar
Astar is a Polkadot network where one person can hold two kinds of address, a native one and an Ethereum-style 0x one, so it matters which format you check or send to.
Before screening an Astar address, check whether it is a native (SS58) address or an EVM 0x address. They can belong to the same person but hold separate balances unless unified, and a checker that supports 0x addresses may not cover native Astar addresses.

How to check an Astar address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers AstarChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Match the format to the recipient: native Astar addresses use SS58, EVM addresses start with 0x. Send only to the type your exchange or wallet asks for.
- Run the check and read itTether does not list Astar as a USDT network; USDT reaches Astar from Polkadot Asset Hub via XCM (as xcUSDT). Confirm the exact token and network before depositing.
Astar specifics
- Astar uses two address formats: a native (SS58) address and an EVM address that starts with 0x.[1]
- Astar's native addresses use SS58 network prefix 5, registered under the name 'Astar Network' with the ASTR token at 18 decimals.[2]
- Astar's EVM network uses chain ID 592, and its native token is ASTR.[3]
- Account Unification links a user's 0x and native addresses so they share one balance; Astar says the link is permanent and should only be created through the Astar Portal.[4]
- In Astar's dApp Staking, ASTR stays locked in the holder's own account; the minimum stake is 500 ASTR and unlocking takes 9 eras (about 9 days) on Astar.[5]
- Astar's docs say Tether USDT issued on Polkadot's asset parachain (Statemint) can be moved to Astar over XCM, Polkadot's cross-chain messaging system, where it is called 'xcUSDT'.[6]
- The Astar Foundation reported that a flaw in Neemo Finance, a third-party liquid-staking app (nsASTR), let an attacker unlock ASTR that Neemo had staked in dApp Staking. Astar paused dApp Staking as a precaution and said the Astar Network and dApp Staking themselves were not compromised.[7]
Common risks on Astar
FAQ
Why does my Astar wallet show two different addresses?
Astar supports a native (SS58) address and an EVM address that starts with 0x. By default, each 0x address is mapped to a separate derived native address. Astar's Account Unification lets you link your own pair so they share one balance. Astar's docs say the link cannot be changed later and should only be done in the Astar Portal.
Is USDT on Astar issued directly by Tether?
Tether's list of supported networks does not include Astar. It does list Polkadot Asset Hub (asset ID 1984). Astar's docs say Tether USDT from Polkadot's asset parachain can be moved to Astar over XCM, where it is called xcUSDT. Circle's list of native USDC networks does not include Astar either.
How long does it take to unstake ASTR from dApp Staking?
Astar's docs give an unlocking period of 9 eras, about 9 days, on Astar, and a minimum stake of 500 ASTR. While staked, the tokens stay locked in your own account rather than being sent to someone else.
How do I check a Astar address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Astar, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
