AML check on Chiliz Chain
Chiliz Chain is an EVM blockchain for sports fan tokens on Socios.com; its 0x addresses look like Ethereum's, and CHZ also exists as a token on Ethereum.
A Chiliz Chain address can be identical to an Ethereum address but has its own separate history, so make sure your checker is screening Chiliz Chain (chain ID 88888), not Ethereum. CHZ on Ethereum (ERC-20) and native CHZ on Chiliz Chain are linked only through a bridge, so one result does not cover the other.
Services that check Chiliz Chain
How to check a Chiliz Chain address
- Get the public addressAsk your counterparty for the address they will send from — or copy it from the incoming transaction.
- Pick a service that covers Chiliz ChainChoose one marked “Supported” in the list above. Before checking an address, confirm which network the CHZ is on: Ethereum and Chiliz Chain are screened separately.
- Run the check and read itNeither Tether nor Circle lists Chiliz Chain as a native network, so treat any USDT or USDC there as a bridged or third-party token and check its contract.
Chiliz Chain specifics
- Chiliz officially launched the public mainnet of its own layer-1 blockchain, Chiliz Chain, on 10 May 2023.[1]
- Chiliz Chain uses Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA), which combines Proof of Authority with Proof of Stake, and is a fork of BNB Smart Chain, so it works with Ethereum tools and wallets.[2]
- At its 2023 launch, Chiliz said the chain used 11 active validators to produce blocks, with Jump Crypto, Paribu and Meria among the first named; current docs describe a set maximum number of block-producing validators.[3]
- CHZ is the native coin of Chiliz Chain and is used to pay transaction (gas) fees.[4]
- Fan Tokens are finite digital assets on Chiliz Chain that underpin the Socios.com app; all of them were moved from the legacy Chiliz chain (CC1) to Chiliz Chain (CC2) by September 2023, and a 2026 migration made them divisible (18 decimals instead of whole units).[5]
- On Ethereum, CHZ is an ERC-20 token; Chiliz's official bridge (bridge.chiliz.com) locks ERC-20 CHZ in a contract on Ethereum and releases native CHZ on Chiliz Chain (and the reverse), which can take up to 30 minutes.[6]
- Chiliz says its subsidiary Socios Europe Services Limited was authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority as a crypto-asset service provider under the EU's MiCA rules, and that a MiCA white paper for CHZ is in ESMA's register.[7]
- On 21 May 2024 Chiliz Chain stopped producing blocks after a bug in its Dragon8 upgrade (non-deterministic inflation maths) and restarted the next day; Chiliz's own post-mortem says it was not a hack and no funds were lost.[8]
- In a ruling dated 10 August 2022 (revised after an independent review, with the complaints still upheld), the UK Advertising Standards Authority found that Arsenal’s ads for Socios fan tokens did not make clear that paid-for fan tokens were cryptoassets, unregulated in the UK, that could change in value and had to be bought with another cryptocurrency (CHZ).[9]
Common risks on Chiliz Chain
FAQ
Is a Chiliz Chain address the same as an Ethereum address?
It uses the same format (0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters), and the same address can exist on both networks, but Chiliz Chain (chain ID 88888) keeps its own separate transactions and balances.
Why can CHZ be on two networks?
CHZ is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and the native coin of Chiliz Chain, where it pays transaction fees. Chiliz's official bridge moves CHZ between them by locking tokens on one side and releasing them on the other.
What are fan tokens?
Chiliz describes Fan Tokens as finite digital assets on Chiliz Chain that power the Socios.com app. In a ruling on Arsenal's ads, the UK advertising regulator (ASA) treated paid-for fan tokens as cryptoassets that were unregulated in the UK and whose value can go down as well as up.
How do I check a Chiliz Chain address for AML risk?
Copy the public address, open one of the services listed above that supports Chiliz Chain, and run the check. You never need a seed phrase or private key.
What does “Not verified” mean?
The service claims support somewhere — in marketing copy or a third-party page — but its own docs, pricing or FAQ do not list the network. Treat it as unknown.
